I'm On Linked In, Now What???

by Janson Alba

I was recently given an advance copy of an interesting book, and I thought I’d share my thoughts about it with you.

This book was written by the founder of www.jibberjobber.com, Jason Alba.

Jason gave me a copy of the book when he was exhausted and probably not thinking clearly, but he insisted I was under no obligation to write about his book; though I am sure he hopes that I will.

The book is his personal journey through the Linked In experience.  He is candid about the pitfalls, shortcomings, and frustrations of networking through Linked In.

He is equally candid about the useful contacts he has made, the strengths, and rewards of utilizing Linked In as part of his networking effort.

He shows the reader how to utilize the networking site, (and by extension other networking sites as well), for maximum advantage.

Jason talks about his early frustration with Linked In and trying to find appropriate individuals to connect with.

“Searching for valuable contacts (there were about eight million users in LinkedIn when I signed up) produced no results, which led me to believe the search function was broken.”

The book was in September of 2007, and can be ordered from the publisher

The book is an easy read; and the cost is a modest $19.95.

If you are wanting to maximize your networking efforts, (especially on Linkedin), this is a book worth the effort

ISP Marketing Survival Guide:
Proven Strategies and Secrets for
Outmaneuvering the Competition

by Christopher M. Knight

This book is an exceptional marketing tome. It's exceptional because Knight realizes that marketing is far more than sales pitches or advertising campaigns, it's your attitude toward your customers — it's your very identity.

The book provides fascinating reading for anyone interested in marketing, but the ISP Marketing Survival Guide is essential reading for those who own or market an Internet service.

The ISP Marketing Survival Guide is not just another "how to" book about marketing — it's about operating a quality Internet service that is of value to your clients.

Knight identifies nine different topics ranging from building a "marketing arsenal" to detailing "the only three ways to grow your ISP," and then attacks each with clear thinking and solid judgment.

As if that isn't enough, Knight provides the reader with "case studies" about national ISPs like EarthLink, Inc. and VillageNet, Inc. as well as regional and international ISPs. His analytical skills reviewing other ISP's experiences substantiate Knights marketing prowess.

Each chapter is filled with intelligent data you can easily and quickly incorporate into your business.
